I have this thing with W@lls...!

"if you want to start writing a book, do it today. If you want to join a gym or a dance class, do it today.  If you want to start painting again....do it today. Do it this very hour."

Is it so weird that I just love painting walls? An empty wall has been my canvas, like forever...!

Only if you give it a thought , after our school days get over, we just stop spending time in doing what we actually love to do...like sketching, painting, joining a classical dance class or even salsa for that matter, or in some case even painting walls!

I don't know why but painting walls weirdly inspire me. It is like this target for me that I need to accomplish. Often, we don't finish things that we start. For me it's like ,if I finish painting the wall, I started, I can finish all my unfinished projects! Nevertheless it is a motivation for me to dream things which are bigger and wish to bring them to a conclusion, someday. To start something which is out of my league and then finish it.

So let me take ya 'll to a tour of this thing which I have with walls!

My room in Kanpur. Before I scrapped and painted it yellow,it used to be a dirty white wall with stickers and newspaper cuttings!

Take the wall and paint it yellow!!

The Egyptian Goddess...the wall next to the green board in my class...I think it is still there!

**Freedom**

That bulb is just in the right place!

Smart way to store your bike without making the room look like a store room!!

This diwali.

I also have a thing for butterflies,angels- I think I have a thing for Wings!

Wings of Fire.

So guys, if you want to start writing a book, do it today. If you want to join a gym or a dance class, do it today.  If you want to start painting again....do it today. Do it this very hour.

You are your Choices

Most of us see dreams, but do nothing about it. Most of us want to change the course of their life, yet do nothing about it. I still remember the day I was whining to Atika, a dear friend of mine, "Bohot kaam hai, kaise khatam hoga?! " To which she replied upfront, "Kaam karne se khatam hota hai, rone se nahi" .That statement although very simple, has helped me finish things which I start, since then. Or even start doing things which I always want to. Back in Lucknow, as days passed, it was getting more and more suffocating. Scared of the future and where I was heading to. I had no interest in teaching, not at least without gaining any experience in the field. I wanted to start a firm someday, but how? In a city where girls are not even sent to site visits, how was I supposed to understand the real world of architecture, just sitting behind the computer and doing exactly  what I was asked to. In a place where I was underestimated, my professional pace was get...

Give me Wings!-not everything is on the internet.

I told my Boss's wife ,I want to quit as my thesis is about to start and I need time for preparation for my masters,a very dumb excuse,I know. But,somehow, whatever she said, convinced me not to leave.I was not a quitter. I sat in front of the computer and instead of looking for "interior ideas for bedrooms" I searched for Butterflies! Back in 2013,after coming back from my training in Kolkata, I was keen to join a firm on a part-time basis. But in Lucknow, what I observed and what I felt was unfair and made me upset, was that girls /women were not encouraged to go to site visits of the projects that they were handling.Unlike,my present office, where the second day of my joining I was sent to three site visits of the projects that I was supposed to handle. Anyway, so I joined an Office. Now, After around a little more than two years, I think that was a very good decision, given the training I received, after architecture, in Interior designing ,as well. It was a small fir...

Namma Bengaluru!

"Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer." This article is not really about architecture but it is about an architect's love for travel. It's been two years and seven months and Bengaluru has more than changed my life. Living life independently on your own terms and your's alone has it's own perks. Broadly, there are supposed to be three phases in our lives and so we have been told. Phase 1: When you are a kid-you have all the energy and time but no money. Phase 2: When you are an earner- you have money and energy but no time, and Phase 3: When you are retired- you have time, you have money but no energy. So what do we do? We manage the little time, save and use the little money we have and all of our energy, in an age when we have almost no responsibilities, no worries, i.e. only if we allow ourselves to. Life is a celebration. That is what Bengaluru has taught me. It is full of enthusiastic people who earn, eat and travel, experi...
